    STC – Culinary Teaching Kitchen

    Sarasota, Florida

In 2009, Jim Richards, Jr had the pleasure of being the lead design consultant on Suncoast Technical College’s brand new cutting-edge 12,000 square foot culinary arts teaching kitchen and bistro called Bistro 502.

The kitchen includes a generously sized dry storage area and walk-in cooler/freezer. Adjacent to the storage area is a prep area large enough to accommodate up to thirty students. Further along the kitchen space is a large banquet cooking and plating area including roll-in combi ovens, a tilt-skillet, steam kettle, steamer, range and baking oven. Adjacent to the baking oven, there is a complete baking center including worktables, mixers, dough sheeter and additional refrigeration. Adjacent to the bakery is a climate controlled confectionery room.

The facility would not be complete without a thrity-student culinary teaching lab complete with student work stations and countertop induction ranges. The facility also features a full commercial laundry area with washer, dryer and commercial rotary steam iron.

Lead Chef Instructor of Culinary Arts, Suncoast Technical College, Sarasota, Florida
